Hyaluronsäure (HA) ist eine grundlegende Komponente der extrazellulären
Matrix der Haut. Jedoch hat sie neben strukturellen Eigenschaften viele weitere
Funktionen zu erfüllen wie: Regulation des Wasserhaushalts, Stabilisierung und
Depotfunktion für bioaktive Proteine wie Wachstumsfaktoren, Verankerungsstruktur
für Zellen.
Die Synthese und der Abbau dieses Moleküls ist streng
reguliert. Fibrotische Prozesse und Tumorwachstum sind offensichtlich mit
massiven Verschiebungen im Gleichgewicht dieser Prozesse verbunden. Unsere
Gruppe untersucht die regulatorischen Netzwerke des HA-Stoffwechsels und die
Interventionsmöglichkeiten über den HA-Stoffwechsel bei anti-fibrotischen und
Tumortherapien unter Verwendung von in vitro und in vivo Modellen.
