Specifically, the genetic predisposition (polygenic risk score, risk profiling) for different phenotypes during the course of common diseases in children and adolescents (including obesity, allergies, mental health) will be analyzed. In addition, epigenetic studies will be conducted. Your task will involve conducting trajectory analyses and longitudinal latent structural analyses.

As partner site of the DZKJ we will jointly address new health risks emerging from the interplay between predisposition and our changing environment, identify risk and resilience factors and unravel underlying mechanisms for the development of common disease with origin in childhood. To investigate the early determinants on child development and health, unique cohorts are available, particularly the LIFE Child cohort.

Our team is closely integrated with the research structures of the Medical Faculty of the Leipzig University, Helmholtz Institute for Metabolic, Obesity and Vascular Research (HI-MAG), Helmholtz Munich, and leading local as well as national research consortia, such as the Collaborative Research Consortium SFB „ObesityMechanisms“, the future German Center for Child and Youth Health (DZKJ), and our large children’s and adolescent’s cohort LIFE Child.
